Hi there, I'm Katie, owner of Kathryn White Photography.
I was born on the summer solstice & live for long days in the sunshine. I'm happiest when I’m with the people I love, listening to good music, dancing & singing my heart out, and traveling to beautiful destinations (especially anywhere with an ocean view!)
I grew up in the beautiful wine country town of Sonoma, but I’m currently based out of Nevada City, California: a somewhat hidden gem, nestled in the foothills and known for it’s historic gold country charm and mighty South Yuba River (aka my healing and rejuvenating space). I’m grateful to spend my life between these two destinations, still traveling often to the Bay Area for work & pleasure. I’m blessed to have an incredible husband, two sweet kids, and our animal family, including: a sheep, several goats, chickens, a dog, cat, lots of fish and even a leopard gecko… our little farm keeps us busy, but hearts full.
Are We a Good Fit?
Loving and identifying with my work is only part of what makes us a good fit. I believe it’s also important to feel comfortable with one another. Once you hire me, we’re going to be spending a lot of time together… so, establishing a strong connection is essential!
My photography style is organic & emotive. I love the look of film, and try to emulate the look through my editing. But first, it starts behind the camera…
Although I’m somewhat introverted, I feel confident and alive with my camera in hand. When I’m working, my positive energy, empathetic nature and attention to detail helps me capture the entirety of a story. Through my almost 9 years experience as a professional photographer, I’ve learned when to step back and capture the spontaneous & candid moments, as well as when to step in & give direction… without being too pushy or overwhelming.
Traditional portraits are pretty, but I much prefer capturing the “in between” moments: when you’re in your element, happy, laughing or wrapped up in a feeling. The most beautiful images are when we identify with the emotion behind it, and those are my favorite to capture.
I believe in quality service, and that begins with getting to know my clients, helping them plan out a timeline that will allow for the most relaxing experience, and being there as a friend. As your photographer, I will go out of my way to make sure you’re taken care of… whether that’s taking the time to pin boutineers, or simply being a calming presence when things don’t go according to plan. I am here for you, and genuinely care… human to human.
If you value me as an artist… if you’re compassionate and love the spontaneity of life… if you love natural light & big smiles… then I’m you’re gal. If you identify with me & my values, please click that Contact button! I can’t wait to learn more about you.
